Joining the Alliance of Galactic Travellers is very easy;
Join either our Facebook or Discord server (see Engage).
Register on the census.
Follow our system naming rule.
You do not 'need' to come and build a base in our capital region, but you are very welcome to do so.
There are, a few things that you need to take note of, but this guide will help you settle right in!
There are two main groups, you should join one of them, but ideally both to get the full AGT experience as the vibe is different between them:
Facebook group - less real time chat and focused more on sharing visuals and stories.
Discord - real time interactive chat and specialized topic channels.
We require that AGT Travellers follow the AGT Naming Convention except when you are in another civilizations regions.
Generally, you should always use the AGT prefix. Its critically important to do this for our in-game awareness. Some regions will also ask you to apply a suffix the end of the system name. In designated key AGT regions, it is mandatory to follow the naming rules.
In general you can check the NMS Fandom wiki for a region name, and see if it is already claimed by a civilization. If you can not find the region name then there is a good chance it is unclaimed and you are free to name it. (Note: The exception is the Galactic Hub as they maintain their own separate wiki, so check to make sure you are not in their regions).
For more information, see AGT Participation Guidelines for more ways to contribute to the AGT.
Travellers desiring to reach AGT space are can choose from three methods of travel: Portal Glyph Travel, Player assisted travel, Warp Engine & Coordinate Travel.
Portal Glyph Travel is the simplest method, and can be done solo. Portal glyphs will be unlocked automatically as you progress through the main storyline.
When you have all the glyphs, you can access a Portal. If you do not have ready access to a Portal (for example, a base next to a Portal), you will need to locate one. See our Portal Location Guide if you need help to easily to do this.
In order to use glyphs, you must be in the same galaxy as the region you want to visit. Glyphs cannot bring you to a different galaxy.
Use the glyphs for our key regions, Yihelli Quadrant in Euclid is the most active region.
Player-Assisted Travel is the second simplest method, as explained in its name. It requires another AGT traveller to help you to travel to another location. You start a new session joining (via Multiplayer menu, select the save file you wish to have access to the location) an AGT Traveller who is currently in a desired location. then build a base with a powered base teleport unit at that location. When you reload your save file, you can return to the base in single-player gameplay.
You can normally arrange transport assistance by joining our AGT Discord server using the #AGT-galactic-rides channel. Do not use @everyone, please just post your request. Response time varies by overall activity level and time zones; if you have more Travellers in your timezone, you’re more likely to receive a quick response.
Coordinate-and-Warp-Engine-Based Travel is the final option, and it is by far the most difficult. This is how original AGT Travellers had to travel in the eras of Pathfinder and Atlas Rises. Depending on your starting location, it could involve many hours of travel. To learn more, check out the DARC Guide.
The AGT suggests all Travellers build a base or maintain a planetary settlement in one of our primary key regions. Most travellers maintain one in the Yihelli Quadrant in Euclid, but it is not mandatory. Key regions in other galaxies, often the capital system, will have AGT traveller bases and planetary settlements.
The AGT places no restrictions on claiming and building base sites in any region, we do have some Base Building Guidelines that you should consider for the best experience of you and your fellow Travellers.
