All members are requested to adhere to these naming conventions to encourage development of the AGT presence in the NMS universe.
Naming of Star system in this format is mandatory for all Travellers.
We do ask that all seriousness is taken into consideration with regard to naming discoveries.
These rules do NOT apply if you are in a region claimed by another civilization. Normally you can check the NMS Fandom wiki for a region name, and see if it is already claimed by a civilization. If you can not find the region name then there is a good chance it is unclaimed and you are free to name it. (Note: The exception is the Galactic Hub as they maintain their own separate wiki, so check to make sure you are not in their regions).
The following guidance for is the nomenclature for naming systems:
AGT + user provided name
As a general rule of thumb, simply add AGT as a prefix (before) any star systems you upload to the servers.
This rule is MANDATORY as long as you are naming in space unclaimed by other civilizations.
In general, it is recommended that the name used is rooted by the original procedural generated name (or obvious root of it by example dropping off superfluous suffixes or numbers). The traveller is free however create their own name for system as long as they use the AGT prefix. Try to create unique names as common names will often be found elsewhere in the universe.
Suffixes are not mandatory. The exception for this is when naming in a designated Travellers Foundation region, which have mandatory suffixes. Travellers should not use these suffixes except in regions and galaxies where they are to be used.
There are specific regions set aside in a several galaxies where the suffix for that AGT galaxy foundation operates must be applied. Naming in other regions not identified for a Travellers Foundation does not require use of the suffix, although they can be freely used anywhere in that galaxy.

It is important to avoid specific punctuation characters, even if they appear in the game names, as they will cause problems for documentation. These characters should NOT be used in names of ships, planets, fauna, multi-tools, starships etc. as they will cause problems for documentation on the wiki:
/ \ & : ; < > [ ] ' " ? % # { } *
In general, the AGT dictates no names be used that are overtly or implicitly related to:
racism
profanity
sexism
abuse
politics
calls to violence
System names and players that exhibit such styles can be removed from the AGT, and may be reported to Hello Games in extreme cases.
AGT travellers are free to name their planets as desired. Note that unlike star system names, planet names may not permanently stay applied, as Hello Games will reset the name to default procedural name if they apply an update which significantly changes the planets biome, weather, resources or fauna. The same rules on special characters and abusive naming apply for planets.
